the gospel

sometimes, an idea is too monumental for bullet points the only way it could come across accurately is through a story… or a bunch of stories. maybe God feels that way about the gospel. after all, it is supposedly the best news… ever. right? the bible is full of stories of people who God actually interacted with to create a beautiful, living, big story out of a lot of little stories. what’s your story?

maybe your story is really painful. maybe you feel inadequate because of things in your past. maybe there are parts of your story that make you wince and you hope you can just sort of overlook them. in other words… maybe you’re human.

the truth: you are a human. you’ve done things you regret and felt things you wish you hadn’t. and you live with this nagging feeling that something isn’t right, that this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. you’re right.

we weren’t created to sin. we [mankind] were created as perfect and blameless, and had a perfect relationship with God. but then we sinned, and the perfect relationship with God was destroyed. we started writing our own story.

but there was a man named Jesus. he lived a perfect life, the life we were created to live. and even after feeling the pull to do everything we’ve ever been tempted to do, he still didn’t sin. then, being completely blameless, he was put to death. and he died with the weight of our sin, our problems, our things on his back.

three days later, Jesus came back to life. He defeated death. He defeated sin. and because of Him, we can live.

here’s what it takes: everything. you have to realize and confess that you’ve messed up and deserve death. you have to believe that what Jesus did was enough to cover your sin, and you have to give him everything. let His grace bring you new life. let His love change you.

let Him take over the writing of your story.
